One Step Tutorial: Offset Path for Black Outlines

Offset PathIt’s One Step Tutorial time again! This one involves using the Offset Path to create black outlines in Adobe Illustrator.

Step 1: I start with a shape I drew in Illustrator. I usually draw with a pink/red stroked line, so I can see it. I eliminate the stroke and give the box a white fill. I select that shape and go to Object > Path > Offset Path. A dialogue box pops up. I chose a 2 point offset with rounded corners. I click OK and fill the new shape with black.

And… I have my black outline on my word bubble. This is how I create most of the black outlines on my illustrations.
